Out of all the four season's may favourite is spring. Summer is great for holidays and spending time outdoors, autumn can be spectacular as the leaves on the trees change, and winter can be picturesque after a hard frost or fresh snowfall, but spring bursts forth with new life. Every year it is heralded in by snowdrops and daffodils which give way to crocuses and early blossom on some shrubs and trees. Birds become active in their courtship and nest building, and the daylight begins to stretch out longer each day.

For me it is a time of planning and preparation for what is to be achieved in the year ahead. The garden is prepared for planting... the lawnmower is serviced for the cutting season, and all this because we know the seasons marshall in different aspects of life... and spring marshalls in new life.

I believe, at SBC, that is exactly what God is doing. He has confirmed to us in Isaiah 43:19 "See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland."

As we come towards the end of Lent and our 40 Days of Community campaign, I believe the Lord has led us each to do something new, and just as a snowdrop burst through the soil to open its leaves and flower, I believe that our gifts and ministries are emerging to enable us to serve each other and the community as we bring God the glory.

We will all have opportunities to serve Him in the near future, so let us nuture the gifts he has given us and be bold in stepping out for Him.
